Ken Obituary

Kenneth John Seman, known to friends and family as “Ken and Kenny,” was born on April 21, 1937, to Elizabeth and John Seman in Great Falls, Montana as the last of three children. His oldest sister, Delores Boutilier is in Palmer, Alaska and second sister, Charlene Eves resides in Romulus, Michigan. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Peace Hospice. A funeral liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Growing up in Great Falls, he attended McKinley grade school, St. Gerard’s grade school, Paris Gibson Junior High, and Great Falls High School. After a few years at the College of Great Falls, his strong work ethic served him well at Gamers/Sweetheart Bread as a delivery vendor in addition to delivery and sales with National Laundry Co. He finished his career with over 21 years in the Great Falls School District as a janitorial technician at East Junior High. He married the love of his life, Shirley Froehlich from Missoula, on June 16, 1962. Many dinnertime comments re-occurred about how he rescued her and escaped from Fort Missoula. In the following years, three children were added to the mix, Daniel (Valerie) Seman of Missoula, Sharyl Saalfeld of Great Falls, and Connie (Randy) Peck of Great Falls. The kids found having your dad working at the junior high school you attended added additional challenges in the shenanigan department. He enjoyed his seven grandchildren immensely including Matthew, Rhiannon, Kelsey, Christopher, Benjamin, Cassie, and Mikayla. He was also able to enjoy four great-grandsons, Calvin, Brian, Alexander, and Everett. Ken’s passion was sports and he excelled in fastpitch and slowpitch softball and league bowling. He was a lifelong New York Yankees and Green Bay Packers fan which tormented him during losing seasons. In 1972, a truck, camper, and boat were acquired which led to camping trips each weekend from June to September regardless of weather conditions. He was always on the hunt for the next fishing hotspot or killer lure. Countless weekends making lasting memories occurred at his favorite spots Holter Lake and Hauser Lake. Other venues included Canyon Ferry, Ackley Lake, Newland Reservoir, Belt Creek, and Diversion Dam. Next to camping and fishing, his lifelong goal was to have the best-looking lawn on the block. He was a member of the Elks Club, Teamsters Union, and Operating Engineers Union. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth and John Seman. Ken is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley Seman; two sisters; three children; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandsons. The family would like to recognize the loving care provided by the amazing staff at the Beehive and Peace Hospice. In lieu of any flowers, please consider a donation to the Benefis Peace Hospice organization.
