James A. Pivovar of Naples, Florida died on October 13, 2021 at the age of 76. Jim was an only child born on July 28, 1945 to Nellie (Tropeck) and Stanley Pivovar in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Jim is survived by his wife, Nicki, of 51 years, his two daughters Jenine and Kathryn Pivovar. He was predeceased by his son James David Pivovar. He has four grandchildren, Matthew and Kherington Hufnagel, Anthony Pivovar and Lily Wright.
Jim graduated from Fort Cherry High School, McDonald, Pa in 1963. He graduated from Morehead University, Kentucky in 1968. He received his Master of Science Transportation Planning and Engineering from the Polytechnical Institute of Brooklyn in 1993.
Jim worked for the New Jersey Department of Transportation for 37 years. He also worked for Gannet Fleming as a consultant.
After retiring, Jim and Nicki moved to Lake Wallenpaupack, Pa (where they vacationed for decades) and built their dream home. He was actively involved as a board member in the homeowner’s association and was the “Dock Dude” for the association, for many years. He enjoyed all lake activities, boating, riding jet skis, fishing. He especially loved Wally Week with our dear friends and family.
One day he asked Nicki if she’d like to move to Florida and when she said “sure”, they moved to Florida within two months. He enjoyed his mustang convertible and taking long rides to the everglades and Key West.
Jim loved to golf, but his real passion was playing bridge. He played in many bridge groups over the years.
Jim and Nicki travelled all over the US and world together. He loved sharing stories and pictures of all their adventures.
Jim will be dearly missed.
