Joseph McCraw Obituary

Joseph “Craig” McCraw, Sr passed away to his heavenly home on Oct. 13 at the age of 57. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather,, son, son-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. Craig is survived by his wife Debra Wheeler McCraw, son Dexter Craig McCraw, daughters and sons-in-law Geneva and Harry Hanna and Cynthia and Nathaniel McCormick, father Joe McCraw, sisters and brothers-in-law Lisa and Rod Senecal and Rebecca and Jason Mitchell, brother Thomas Baldino,  granddaughter Kara Hanna, aunts Sally Rowley Lung and Janet McCraw Pearson, father- and mother-in-law, Leo and Phyllis Wheeler, special friends Tim and Bonnie Ferguson, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends. Craig was preceded in death by his first-born son, Joseph Craig McCraw, Jr., who died in infancy, mother Patricia Rowley McCraw, grandparents Oliver “OT” and Sally Richardson Rowley and Roby and Myrties Midkiff McCraw, and uncle Richard “Dickie” Rowley.

Craig was employed by the Roanoke County School System for many years and the City of Salem Parks and Recreation Department.  He will be missed greatly by his many co-workers and friends.  Craig was a fixture at the Salem baseball fields and the Salem High School games.

He was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church, Salem, Virginia, and services will be conducted by Reverend Carl Goodman.   

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 17th, and memorial service will be Monday at 11:00 A.M. at Lotz Funeral Homes, Salem, VA.
