Eddie Lee Obituary

EDDIE LEE was born on January 23, 1946, to the late and wonderful parents Hardy and Georgiana Lee, in Haynesville AL. He was affectionately known as “ED”. ED bid farewell to this world and took his heavenly flight on Sunday October 3, 2021. Ed was educated in the Haynesville public schools and completed his education at the Central High School. While he was a young man and begin to understand the journey of life he accepted JESUS the Christ as his personal Savior. Once he made that commitment, he was not perfect but he was challenged to do the right thing, he had to smile when he wanted to cry, he had to be kind when he didn’t want to but he always knew at the end of the day GOD needed to be pleased with his life. Upon graduation from high school in 1965 Ed married Ann Marie McWilliams (deceased), to this union two wonderful children were born, Jacqueline and Eddie Jr. Ed left the south and came to Cleveland, Ohio looking for a better opportunity. While here he met Berniece Stewart. On July 2, 1986 he married Berniece, whom he affectionately called “His Pint Sized Partner” and they established a home in Elyria. Following his church covenant, he united his family with UNITY BAPTIST CHURCH where he served faithfully in the Male and Senior Chorus Ministries. Ed was an industrious man and his path led him to various places of employment. However, nothing was as rewarding as, “The FORD MOTOR COMPANY” where he found stability and worked for 35 years. He lived and enjoyed a 14 -year retirement. Ed was a kind and loving man, he had a contagious smile, a warm heart, but a firm hand. He enjoyed wearing hats he wore white baseball caps with his casual outfits and loved his Stetsons when he was dressed up. Ed loved spending time with his family, he enjoyed family gathering playing card games, board games, watching sports on TV. Ed and Berniece traveled and spent time together just enjoying each other’s company. Ed loved his family and made many trips down south when his Mother was still alive. Ed and Berniece spent numerous hours with their grandchildren. These children were the pride and joy of Ed’s heart, he loved them with all he had. Anthony Phillpotts Jr. “TJ” his grandson whom he raised as his son, blessed him beyond measure on July 24, 2021, by asking him to stand as his best man while he married the woman of his dream. Ed talked about that endlessly. If you sat and talked to Ed, he had a story to tell you about each of his grandchildren. ED, will be missed by all who knew him. ED leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife of 35 years, Berniece. 1 aunt Ellen Smith, 5 Siblings, Pearl Drake, Hardy Lee Jr., Mary C. Avery, Rosa Lamar, Sharon Arnold, Tommy Avery, 8 Children, Gwendolyn Grant, Jacqueline Lee, Eddie Lee Jr., Tina Hunter, Nicole Lee, John Hamilton, DeMarr McCombs (Cara).
