Ruth L. Margot Obituary

Boonville – Ruth L. Margot, 98, a resident of Sunset Nursing Home for the past 5 years died there September 26, 2021 after a long illness. Mrs. Margot was born August 10, 1923 in Constableville, the daughter of Anthony and Cecelia Duppert Kraeger. She graduated from Constableville High School in 1941 and later the Utica School of Commerce. She worked for NDP Peters and during that time met Pat S. Margot. They were married on July 7, 1949 and made their home in Utica. Mr. Margot predeceased her in 1973. For some period of time, she worked as an encyclopedia salesperson and later decorated cakes and sold them at Mercer’s Dairy store in Sangertown Square. In 1988, she moved to Boonville and worked at Walsh’s store in Constableville for many years. Mrs. Margot attended St. Joseph’s Church in Boonville where she was a member of the Catholic Ladies Club. “Ruthie”, as she was affectionately called by many of her nieces and nephews, loved bowling, playing cards and gardening. Family always came first and she and her husband Pat never missed a weekend visiting the family farm in Constableville before his death. Nothing pleased her more than visiting the family farm in the years that followed. While at Sunset, Mrs. Margot made the most of her days reading her Utica OD and the Boonville Herald, cover to cover and playing cards. She was an avid NY Yankees fan and rarely missed a game. Most days, she could be found roaming the halls of Sunset or following the garden paths when the weather permitted. She will always be remembered for her warmth, kindness and friendly nature. She leaves two sons, Frank (Sharon), Cassville, and Gary, Edwards, CO, a granddaughter Kelly Jo Loomis (Jason) and great grandchildren Jacob, Kamryn, and Finley, of Lapeer, MI, a sister-in-law, Josephine Kraeger, Constableville and a special nephew James Keohane (Helen), Watertown plus several other nieces and nephews. Mrs. Margot is the last member of the Kraeger family that included Eva Keohane (James), Eleanor Grems (Harry), Agnes Kelly (Wilson), Edna Sattler (Henry), Aubrey (Irene), Harland, Robert, Irving (Josephine), and Katherine. A Memorial Mass will be at St. Mary’s Church in Constableville on October 30, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. where the Reverend Donald Karlen will officiate. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Utica at an undetermined time. Please note: due to unforeseen circumstances, the time of the Memorial Service had to be changed from the originally announced 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. on October 30th.
