Brian Dale Reimer

1972 - 2021

On Saturday October 9th, 2021 Brian Dale Reimer, loving husband and father, unexpectedly passed away at the age of 49.

Brian was born in Calgary, Alberta on July 23, 1972 to Jake and Norma Reimer. He spent the days of his youth on the family farm in the Tees area. While on the farm he developed a strong work ethic and learned to fix and build just about anything. He was fortunate to have loving parents and siblings that nurtured and encouraged his growth in these areas. Brian used these skills to serve his friends and family whenever he found the time, which was often.

One of his loves, second only to his family, was aviation. He achieved his private pilot’s license while working and attending high school at the age of 17. Two years later he went on to obtain his commercial pilot’s license. His passion continued as a pilot and instructor, flying for numerous companies across Canada. The last 19 years were spent with WestJet as a well- respected Training Captain.  To say he was an overachiever is an understatement.

Little did he know his career as a pilot would lead him to meet the love of his life, Brittney. They were married in 2010 and share many wonderful memories together with their two sons. As you can imagine, being a great dad came naturally to him and if the boys were excited about something then he was too. This led to projects like building a blacksmith forge and making his garage look more like an aircraft diorama than a place to park his truck— anything to see them smile.

If you asked Brian about aviation or his family you could count on seeing his eyes light up and a flash of his brilliant smile. Brian was genuine. He was known for his kindness, quick-wit, resourcefulness, and his famous “Reimer Eggs.” He was always thinking of others and lending a hand to anyone he could.

Brian is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and one uncle. He is survived by his devoted wife, Brittney Reimer; children, Isaac Spackman and Bennett Reimer; parents, Jake and Norma Reimer; parents in-law, Grant and Brenda Bench; brother, Rick Reimer; sister, Janet Skarbo (Mike); sister, Jennifer Kreil (Todd); sisters in-law, Annie Blackwood (Kirk), Brekka Shepard (Travis); brothers in- law, Grant Bench, Braydon Bench (Nolee); numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles; an abundance of life- long friends; countless aviation enthusiasts and professionals. His loyal four-legged companion Hazel.
