Richard A. "Rick" Peterson, 75, a resident of the Gaston community, died Wednesday evening, October 13, 2021 at his home. RICHARD ARLEN PETERSON was born June 24, 1946 in Hastings, Nebraska, the son of the late Geoffrey Timmings and Rhoda (Hamilton) Timmings. He was raised and received his education in the communities of Hastings, Nebraska; Portland, Oregon and Banks, Oregon, having been a graduate of the Banks High School Class of 1964. Upon his high school graduation, Rick served in the Oregon National Guard. He was united in marriage to Dorothy L. Kent on July 19, 1968 in the Hillsboro Church of Christ. They celebrated their 53rd Wedding Anniversary this past July. Following their marriage they resided in the communities of Forest Grove and Cornelius, until 1976, when they moved to the Gaston community. In 1990, they built their present home in the Gaston community, where they have resided since. Rick had worked for McCann Tire in North Plains for several years. In 1990, he and Dorothy purchased the company in Cornelius, having continued the business as Rick’s Tire. They owned and operated the business from 1990 to 2015, when he retired. He was a member of the NRA (National Rifle Association) and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. He was preceded in death by his parents, Geoffrey and Rhoda Timmings and his two sisters, Delores Haynes and Donna Perini. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Peterson; his two sons and a daughter-in-law, Richard A. “Rick” and Shannon Peterson, of Forest Grove, Oregon and Jake Peterson, of Gaston, Oregon; his brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Janet Peterson, of Forest Grove, Oregon and his two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sherri Wood and Bill Graves, of Battle Ground, Washington and Linda and Byron Richardson, of Tillamook, Oregon. Also surviving are his seven grandchildren, Rachel; Riley; Nicolas; Madison; Makayla; Kayden and Kaylee and several nieces and nephews.June 24, 1946 - October 13, 202106/24/194610/13/2021
