<p>Josie Mae Coleman, age 95, passed away peacefully in her home on October 12, 2021, surrounded by her family. She transitioned from this life to the next knowing that she had completed her life&rsquo;s calling as a devoted wife, and mother. She turned her house into a home providing for her family as well as welcoming neighbors who stopped by for a chat and a treat.</p> <p>Josie was the perfect description of a Proverbs woman, precious, faithful, wise, charitable yet frugal, and always prepared. She was a member of Hillcrest United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary where she served in many officer positions. She was an accomplished cook, a nurse when needed, and a counselor who helped heal broken hearts and offered wise words of advice. She loved working her magic in the kitchen as well as her soap operas in the afternoon.</p> <p>The family takes comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with her soul mate of 65 years, James H. Coleman, Sr; as well as her parents, Robert Maitland and Ella Brintley; her stepfather, Robert Brintley; 2 sisters; and 7 brothers. She leaves behind 4 children: Roberta &ldquo;Birdie&rdquo; Samuels, James &ldquo;Jim&rdquo; Coleman (Caroline), Willard &ldquo;Billy&rdquo; Coleman (Sue), Sandra &ldquo;Sandy&rdquo; Franklin (Banks); and brother, Charles Brintley. Also, her 16 grandchildren Ricky, Linda (Steve), Anne (Bruce), Katherine (Mike), Eric (Jessica), Ryan, Jordan (David), Katie (Wyatt), and Michael (Lauren); and 14 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren. She found great joy in her unofficial adopted son, Larry Pitts who she counted as one of her own, and her caregivers, Sandra Sims, Sheryl Brown, and Hospice who provided Stephanie, Jennifer, Virginia, and Jessica.</p> <p>Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. Family and friends will gather one hour before the service to bid farewell. The services will conclude at Sunset Memorial Gardens where she will be laid to rest by her loving husband.</p> <p>In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to St. Jude Hospital in Josie&rsquo;s name.</p>
