Obituary

Our beloved mother, Audrey Bartell (née Stonehouse and known to her family as “Billie"), passed away suddenly, at home, on October 11, 2021 with her family by her side. Mom lived a life of service to her community and church and volunteered her time in support of many international aid projects, including polio vaccination through Rotary International and providing safe housing in Mexico through the United Church mission. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all. Our sorrow is deep but we are grateful for the outpouring of tributes we have received from friends and family near and far.

A Memorial Service will take place at St. Stephen’s United Church in Qualicum Beach on Thursday, October 21st at 2 pm.

As we have a limited number of seats under COVID protocols, some seats will be reserved for family and close friends. There will a number of seats remaining. This is especially challenging as our mom was so involved in many organizations in the community.

If you would like to attend the service, please contact us by email at annehowden@gmail.com and we will do our best to accommodate as many of you as possible.

Donations in honour of our mom may be made to the Rotary Foundation (Canada) or a children’s charity of your choosing.

"I expect to pass through life but once. If, therefore, there be any kindness I can show, or any good thing I can do to any fellow-being, let me do it now, and not defer or neglect it, as I shall not pass this way again.” (William Penn)
