Dollie Howard Blue departed this life at Oak Manor Healthcare Center in Burtonsville, Maryland on October 12, 2021. She was born the youngest of the 10 children of Julius Earl and Ruth Fitts Howard on March 14, 1932 in Littleton, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her eight siblings: Bessie J. Marrow, Samuel M. Howard, Benjamin E. Howard, Ora E. Flood, Viola M. White, Maude V. Paschall, Freddie H. Howard and Mabel Cleo Coakley. She was raised in a loving, caring, strong and hardworking family. She accepted Christ at a early age and joined Olive Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina. Dollie received her education in the Warren County Public School System in North Carolina. Upon graduation, she moved to Washington, D.C. and was employed by the Federal Government working for the Department of the Army at the pentagon for many years. Dollie retired from government service in 1969. During her retirement, Dollie especially enjoyed traveling every Christmas to London for several years. She traveled to Florida in the summer and later expanding her travel to Hawaii. Dollie was an independent traveler. She always planned her own travel making sure of the best airfare and hotel rates and saving for future travel. She enjoyed attending services at Foundry United Methodist Church in Washington, D.C. Dollie leaves to cherish her memories; one sister, Lucie Thompson, special niece, Vernice Lacy, and great-niece, Dawn Howard, and other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Dollie was a long-time resident at Homecrest House in Silver Spring, Maryland for approximately 25 years.
