Marquisha "Keeks" Doris Wiley Obituary

Marquisha “Keeks” Doris Wiley
Age 27, of South St. Paul, tragically lost her life to senseless gun violence Sunday, October 10th. Marquisha grew up with the love of playing basketball in her heart. Her love grew from her team on the Westside Boosters and as she grew, she became the captain of her high school team at Henry Sibley.  Marquisha was guided first and foremost by her heart; she endeavored to give her all to her family and friends, and no one ever doubted her love for them. Her special title of “TiTi” was a particular point of pride; it brought so much joy to her to be a part of not only her nephew’s lives but to all her close loved ones' children as if they were her own. Her generosity and compassionate spirit was evident in her love of animals and her advocacy of treating all creatures with the respect due to them by nature of their life. That passion turned into her calling as a vet tech. She worked at various clinics over the last 7 years, sharing her joy with her many colleagues and clients. It’s perhaps most fitting that Marquisha found the other half of her soul in her pet daughter, Geneva, while assisting with an animal fostering event. The two kindred spirits immediately connected and Geneva found her forever home in Marquisha’s boundless love. Marquisha knew who she was and how she wanted to be treated in the world, and there was nothing that would convince her otherwise nor would she let her loved ones think any different of themselves. Being real and open was her motto. She was always dressed to impress and her beauty was a reflection of her true and solid conviction in her worth and her abilities inside and out. She was humble and worked every day to show up with grace and compassion her aurora lighting up any room she entered, it was impossible not to be happy and smiling around her. There is no justice that such a bright light in this world was extinguished as a result of senseless and needless violence. Her legacy will live on in her love, her family, and in this community who will rise up in defiance of this hateful act to work toward a better and brighter future for all. Let her love and light live on.
Marquisha is preceded in death by her grand momma, Doris Jean Wiley. She is survived by her parents, Kevin and Beth Wiley; siblings, Kevaughn and Aundrea Wiley and Natasha Whyte; her “pet kid,” Geneva; nephews, Mikey and Zander Wiley and Xavier Whyte; and her niece, Xamaria Whyte; aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral Service Saturday, October 16 at 11:00 AM at BRADSHAW CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTER (4600 Greenhaven Drive, WBL) with visitation one hour prior and on Friday, October 15 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
