Nathaniel "Nate" Willis, Jr. Obituary

Canandaigua – Nathaniel “Nate” Willis, Jr., age 58, passed away unexpectedly at home, on Sunday, October 10, 2021. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Mary Henninger; six children, Kayla Willis, Taylor (Melissa) Willis, Anastasia Willis, Shanice Williams, Christopher Henninger and Joshua (Casey) Henninger; six grandchildren, Kora’Jza, Savannah, Kennedy, Aubrey, Aubrionna and Arabella; four siblings, Debra Thompson, Christine Willis, Corey Willis and Victoria Venable; godson, Bobby “Bam”; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles and aunts including, Florence Artis-Walters; and dear friend, LeRoy Brown. He was predeceased by two siblings, Arylee Willis-Ojumu and Gabrillie Willis. Nate was born in Syracuse and was the son of Nathaniel, Sr. and Hilda (Artis) Willis. He was raised in Albany and was a graduate of Albany High School, class of 1980. Nate was a US Marine Corps veteran, serving from 1980-1983. He worked at the VA Medical Center in Canandaigua. Nate was an avid Dallas Cowboys football fan. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and taking walks by the lake. Nate will be remembered for his sense of humor and story-telling. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, November 6, from 12-4 pm, at the American Legion, 454 N. Main St., Canandaigua, with military beginning at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VA Medical Center, 400 Fort Hill Ave., Canandaigua, NY 14424. Arrangements are by Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., Canandaigua.
