<p>Eleanor Bernice Rizek-91</p> <p>of Hebron, NE</p> <p>Kroll Funeral Home-Hebron</p> <p>402-768-6165</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Eleanor Bernice Rizek of Hebron, NE the daughter of Earl and Blanche (Kasl) Lund was born August 23, 1930 in Belleville, KS. She departed this life surrounded by her family on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Thayer County Health Services in Hebron, NE at the age of 91 years.</p> <p>Eleanor grew up on a farm near Scandia, KS and graduated from Belleville High School with the class of 1948. She furthered her education by attending college at K-State and received her teaching certificate. She then taught at Union Valley School near Scandia. After she married she taught at Strong Elementary School for two years near Manhattan, KS.</p> <p>On June 10, 1952, Eleanor married Eugene Rizek from Munden, Kansas at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Belleville, KS. They made their home in Manhattan, KS until his graduation from Veterinary School. They were blessed with five children, Connie, Steven, Rebecca, Amy and John.</p> <p>The couple moved to Hebron in February of 1959, where they had their own veterinary practice until retiring in June of 1995. Her proudest accomplishment was being a wife, homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.</p> <p>Eleanor was member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hebron, and St. Ann&rsquo;s Altar Society where she was president three times. She also was Hebron&rsquo;s first female City Council Member, a member of PEO, DW, a leader for 4-H, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. She was a member of the Thayer County Community Playhouse, Ladies Golf League at the Hebron Country Club and numerous card clubs. Eleanor had great pleasure visiting the Care Home and Nursing Homes and participating in Meals on Wheels and at Things and Stuff and especially with the TeamMates program.</p> <p>She enjoyed spending time with her family especially the grandchildren. Her chocolate chip cookies were famous across the Midwest. Her hobbies included her flower gardens and visiting friends.</p> <p>Preceding Eleanor in death were her beloved husband Eugene Rizek, her parents Blanche and Earl Lund and an infant sister, Mary. Sister-in-law, Illene Blazek, brother-in- law, Gerald Blazek and many good friends.</p> <p>She is survived by daughter, Connie (Pat) O&rsquo;Hanlon of Hebron, Steve (Dee) Rizek of Hebron, Rebecca (Randy) Hergott of Hebron, Amy (Steve Larsen) of LaQuinta, CA and John (Tanya) Rizek of Lincoln. Grandchildren, Rachel (Danny) Radlund of Camdenton, MO, Carley (Derek) Carroll of Omaha, Ben (Melissa) Fleischacker of Hankinson, SD, Michael (Autumn Noble) of Omaha. Melissa Blakenship (Josh Boyers) of Liberty MO., Jacob (Kim) Rizek of Liberty MO., Caleb Pharris (Tiffany Haynes) of Omaha, Jordan (Dani) Pharris of Brainerd, MN, Jim (Tori) Hergott of Hebron, Chris (Staci) Hergott of Hebron, Colby (Robin) Hergott of Bruning, Robert Larsen (Carolynn McCarthy) of Moore,OK, Elizabeth Larsen of San Francisco, CA, Noah Rizek (Carlee Bunch) of Lincoln and Nathan Rizek of Lincoln. She also leaves behind 19 &frac12; Great Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandson to carry on her legacy. She is also survived by Brother-in-law and Sister-In-Law Jim and Evelyn Hurley of Republic, KS and many loving nieces and nephews. She leaves behind many special friends.</p> <p>Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Monday, October 18, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hebron at 10 AM. Officiant will be Father Steve Major. Rosary service will be Sunday October 17, 2021 at Sacred Heart Church at 7PM with the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Honor Guard present. Organist Andrew Klatt with congregational hymns, &ldquo;Amazing Grace&rdquo;, &ldquo;How Great Thou Art&rdquo; and &ldquo;These Alone Are Enough For Me&rdquo;, cantor, Carlece Kenner, acolyte Mike Long, lector Anne Heitmann. Grandson, Jacob Rizek read the Eulogy. Visitation will be Sunday October 17, 2021 at Kroll Funeral Home in Hebron, NE from 2-6PM.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Condolences may be left at www.krollfh.com.
