Anthony J. Magdowski October 10,2021, Age 71 Beloved husband of Janet for 42 years. Loving father of Kristin (Art) Weston, Anthony (Christine), and Jonathan. Devoted grandfather of Emery, Roger, Elyse, and Artie Weston; Brendan, Brody, Alexa, and Bradley Magdowski. Dear brother of Mary Ann Gross and the late Donald Magdowski. Raised in Detroit by Joseph and Mary (née Gizowski), Tony graduated from De La Salle High School where he excelled on the basketball team. He continued his education at Western Michigan University where he joined the WMU Men’s Varsity Basketball Team as a walk-on. He completed his education when he earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Wayne State University. Tony served in the US Army Michigan National Guard. He enjoyed a 42 year career with Comerica Bank, retiring as Senior Vice President of Global Capital Markets. It was important for him to give back to his community, and he was active in many charitable organizations. He served on the Board and as Chairman of the Southeastern Michigan Chapter of the American Red Cross. He also volunteered with United Way/Black United Fund of Michigan, Youth at Risk Allocation, and St. Aloysius Outreach Center, Detroit. He was a 10 year member of the Parade Company’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Distinguished Clown Corps. Tony was a longtime member of the Detroit Athletic Club, and served as the club’s president in 2015. Tony will be best remembered as the consummate grandfather. He had eight grandchildren whom he adored, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He was a dedicated spectator for their sports and performances, and especially loved being with them at the cottage in Oscoda, Michigan. Tony also enjoyed playing golf and bowling. The family will receive friends Monday 2-8pm at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks (btw Maple & Big Beaver), Troy, 248-362-2500. Funeral mass Tuesday 11am at St. Hugo of the Hills Stone Chapel, 2215 Opdyke Rd, Bloomfield Hills. Visitation at church begins 10:30am. Memorial tributes to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, 1820 Mt. Elliott St., Detroit, MI 48207.
