Olive Jean Bryce Obituary

Olive Jean Bryce (Fraser), Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mom, Gram, GeeGee, Auntie.  She was an active member of the United Church, a dedicated volunteer, and over the years enjoyed bridge, knitting, curling, & golf.  She loved to cook, and was a super shopper.    She was a lover of celebrations and special occasions and made every event special. A friend of anyone who needed a friend, she decided it was time to visit the other side as her work here was done and she passed away peacefully at The Hamlets in Penticton on October 13, 2021 after 93 wonderful years of living life her way! Olive was born in Gilbert Plains, Manitoba March 30, 1928, daughter of Ruth and Stewart Fraser.   She spent her early years on the family farm in Manitoba with her two brothers William Blake and Lauchlan. In 1948 she enlisted in the RCAF.  She met the love of her life, John Errol Hancey Bryce, “Jack” to all who knew and loved him, and they were married March 22, 1952.  They both loved children and started a family, Diana Lynn, Judith Dawn and John Fraser.  In 1960 the Bryce’s sold the family business, Bryce’s Bakery, and moved to Coquitlam, BC where they enjoyed life to the fullest.   After their brood had left the nest, Olive and Jack moved to Penticton in 1994 to live with their son Fraser and his family.  Jack passed away in 1995 and Olive traveled, spent time in Winnipeg, Coquitlam and Penticton where she found her final home at the Hamlets in February 2009. She enjoyed all the outings, volunteered helping school children with their reading, the Red Hat Club, Bingo Games, Dominos, Bike Rides, Exercise Class AND , oh yes, “ Happy Hour”!  If Olive was around, there was fun to be had.

Olive is survived by her children, Lynn Herring (John), Judi Munro (Paul), Fraser Bryce (Kathie); grandchildren, Monica Stewardson (Lance), Heather Munro, Paula Munro (Jeremy), Bryce Munro (Rachel), Bre Holmes (Mike), Dylan Bryce and great grandchildren, Theo Munro-Wise, Errol Munro-Wise, Jensen Munro, Tait Munro and ????Munro (due Nov  2021), Cohen Holmes , Olive Holmes, Quin Stewardson, Gillianne Stewardson, Lulu Wise, honorary Grand Niece, Coreena  (Corm) Fletcher, niece, Kim Bryce (Warren Penner) and cousin, Colleen Kaczan.
