Elroy A. Eberhardt Obituary

Elroy Alfred Eberhardt, 88 passed Monday October 11, 2021.

Elroy was born May 25, 1933 in Peeksville, WI to Arthur “Ed” and Edna Eberhardt.

Elroy was drafted in July of 1953 to the Army at Fort Riley and eventually stationed at Fort Richardson in Alaska. He earned the National Defense Service Medal along with Expert Rifle Badge while in service.  After he was honorably discharged in April of 1956 he worked in the logging and construction industry.

Elroy married Anna Mae Herbst on November 3, 1957 in Park Falls, WI.  From this union they had 3 children Sharon, Gail, and Gary.  In 1970 they moved from West Point, IA to Cut Bank, MT to join his brother Norman in his construction business.  Eventually he formed his own construction company, Elroy’s Construction.  His construction took him all over the state.

Elroy and his family built their cabin near Snow Slip in 1972.  Family and friends enjoyed many holidays and time there over the years until they sold it.  Elroy enjoyed snowmobiling and his love of it spilled over to his family.  Elroy spent a fair share of his earlier years snowmobiling with friends and family.

He enjoyed buying equipment from auctions so that he could redesign the equipment for his use.  Over the years he bought and sold many items.  Elroy spent time in his shop “re-inventing the wheel”, he always had a project going.  He was a faithful member of the local “coffee club”.  Elroy could often be found sharing his stories from when they lived in Iowa, construction jobs, and the many snowmobiling adventures.  When he wasn’t sharing stories, he could often be found listening to a good polka.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Anna Mae; daughter, Gail (Tom) Strader; grandchildren, TJ Strader, Jamie (Tom) Seifert, Brittany Hotchkiss, and Stephanie (Rodney) Hunter; great-grandchildren, Blake Seifert, Lexi Stubbs and Cameron Strader.

Elroy is preceded in death by his parents; his children, Gary and Sharon; and siblings, Carl, Mildred, and Norman.

Graveside services with military honors will be Saturday, October 23 at 2 pm at the Crown Hill Cemetery.  Luncheon to follow at the Garden of Eat In.
