Donald R. Kling
Age 81, of Canton, passed away Wed., Oct. 13, 2021. He was born June 7, 1940 in Canton, a son of the late Dellmore and Bernadine (Campbell) Kling, returned to Canton in July of 2019, after residing in Columbus, NC since 1999. Don was a 1958 graduate of McKinley High School. He retired from The Timken Co. in 1999 after forty years’ service, where he was a supervisor in steel operations. Don was a former member of the Canton Jaycees which he served as President, JCI Senator, and Trustee. He was very active in early Hall of Fame festivities as Chairman of the Parade Marshalls.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn, on Dec. 9, 1997, and a brother, Allen, on June 12, 2014. He is survived by a daughter and son, Terri Kling Grossman and D. Richard (Patricia) Kling II; three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, Melissa Murphy and her daughter, CeAira Harley, Sgt. Nicholas (MIllena) Kling, and Kalina Kling; and three brothers, Robert & Linda Kling, David & Bonnie Kling, and Dale & Rosemarie Kling.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, Oct. 22, 2021, at 11 a.m. in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home with Ron Iwanusa officiating. Friends may call Friday 10-11 a.m. before the service. Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
