Peggy Ruth Matkin, 90, of Aurora, IL passed away on October 12, 2021. She was born in Mississippi on March 12, 1931 the daughter of Dorothy and Newt Coltharp. On June 30, 1950 she married Wayne Matkin and they spent the next 68 years together until he passed away in December of 2017. Peggy was a Cable Operator at Western Electric for 30 years. She was a great mother and very religious woman. She attended the First Apostolic Church of Aurora. Peggy and her husband, Wayne, enjoyed tending to their annual garden at their home where they’d plant flowers, tomatoes, onions, ect.

She is survived by her children, Larry, Dorothy Jane, and Danny Joe; grandchildren, Lynsey and Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Henry and Jackson; brothers, LeRoy and Lennox; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Matkin; her parents, Dorothy and Newt Coltharp; and her brothers, David and Billy Coltharp.

Family will be receiving guests on Monday, October 18, 2021 from 8:00 AM until time of service at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway Ave, Montgomery, IL 60538. A funeral service will follow on Monday, October 18, 2021 at 10:00 AM also at Dieterle Memorial Home. Interment will follow at Lincoln Memorial Park in Aurora, IL.
