Anna Marie Checchio, 98, of Westfield passed away on October 11th, 2021. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday at 1030am at Holy Trinity Church, Westfield. Friends may visit Dooley Colonial Home, Westfield on Sunday from 3PM to 7PM. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Anna was born in Manville, then moved to Plainfield as an adolescent before finally settling in Westfield where she raised her family. Family was everything to Anna . She proved that with her devotion and strength as a wife, mother and grandmother. She was the true matriarch of the Checchio family. She spent her days caring for her family and the house she and her husband built. She enjoyed Ortley Beach to spend time with her family and the backyard picnics. She was a long time parishioner of Holy Trinity Church and a past president of The Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She told many enjoyable stories of her childhood, teenage years and her married life. Her family and friends were given a great gift to have known her. Anna is predeceased by her husband Anthony Checchio in 2010, and Daughter Linda Gildea in 2013 She is the devoted Mother to Anthony, Jr.and his wife Mary Lynn, and Paul and his wife Abigail. She will be deeply missed by her 4 Grandchildren: Melissa, Carolyn, Eric and Trisha and her 6 Great Grandchildren: Nicholas, Alexis, Anabella, Koulista, Stella and Alexander Please make donations in her name to either the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
