Zona Mae Harris, 86, died Monday, October 11, 2021 at the Kearny County Hospital in Lakin, Kansas. She was born May 3, 1935 in Longton, Kansas the daughter of Ben & Alice (Zollars) Busby.

Zona grew up as a child in Longton. She later moved with her family to Garden City where they lived for several years. They later moved to Lakin, Kansas and Zona has lived in Lakin since. On October 30, 1953, she married Jack Dean Harris. A homemaker, Zona also worked as a CNA and later as a medication Aid. She enjoyed spending her time knitting, crocheting, reading, and listening to Books On Tape. She also loved to spend her time attending her grandchildren’s activities, traveling especially to Montana, and was an avid NASCAR fan.

Survivors include her husband Jack Dean Harris of the home; four children Scott Harris of Lakin, Kansas, Gwenn Stokoe of Bozeman, Montana, Jay Harris of Lakin, Kansas, and Jill Caine of Belgrade, Montana; a brother Robert Busby of Crane, Texas; seven Grandchildren; and nine Great-Grandchildren.

Zona is preceded in death by her parents; four brothers Bud Busby, Earl Busby, Gerald Busby, & Earl Busby; and two sisters Louise Huffman and Doris Welch.

Friends may gather with the family at Garnand Funeral Home in Lakin at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2021 for a short reception before leaving for the Lakin Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. for a graveside service with Rev. Ivan Milosi officiating. Friends may also call from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday and from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday all at Garnand Funeral Home in Lakin. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials given to the Joe Randolph Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home.
