Mildred Mary Simpson Obituary

Mildred (Millie) Mary Albert Simpson, 90, of Pittsfield, MA, passed away peacefully on October 5th after a long and fulfilling life. Born in Winn, Maine on July 5th, 1931, she was the daughter of George and Elise Albert. Millie was raised on a farm along with her sisters and brother. She attended Maine schools and graduated from Lincoln High in Lincoln, Maine.

Millie moved to Pittsfield in 1958, where she married Howard Simpson and later welcomed the birth of their son Dean. Millie worked as a dental assistant, then at the local Montgomery Ward, starting as an inventory clerk and working her way up to assistant manager then manager.

Millie enjoyed dining out with friends, visiting her family in Maine, and being near the ocean. She had a warm and generous heart and brought joy to every life she touched. Millie was fiercely independent and her strength and resiliency through adversity were an inspiration to all.

She had a special quality that cannot be described, and people were drawn to her kind spirit. At her 90th birthday party in July, friends and neighbors shared how much they valued having her in their lives.

Millie raised her son Dean mostly on her own and was intensely proud of his accomplishments. She enjoyed getting to know his wife Kristen and loved sharing stories from his childhood with her.

She was predeceased by her beloved sister Rose Sanders of Mexico, ME, and former husband Howard. In addition to her son, Dean, of Seattle, she is survived by her brother George Albert Jr. of Lincoln, ME, and sister Cecilia McMahon of Virginia Beach, VA. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date, which will be announced on www.DeryFuneralHome.com. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests donations to Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary.
