Timothy Sullivan "Tim" Fitchpatrick Obituary

At age 68, Timothy “Tim” Sullivan Fitchpatrick of Lenoir City, TN passed away peacefully in his home on October 12, 2021 after a courageous battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Tim was born in Memphis, TN on February 17th, 1953 to William and Carolyn Fitchpatrick, who were from Lyons, NY and Millington, TN respectively. Tim attended Memphis TN public schools as a child. After moving with his family to Chamblee GA in 1967 at the age of 14, he attended Chamblee High School and graduated in 1971. Being blessed with excellent athletic ability, Tim lettered in multiple sports throughout his high school years. His gifted athletic ability, his many accomplishments, his leadership, and his work ethic attracted numerous elite college programs to recruit him as a student athlete to play football. Having the desire and dreams to play football at the University of Tennessee since early childhood, it was no surprise to anyone that Tim accepted a scholarship offer to attend UT where he was a football letterman from 1973-1975. He was honored to serve as one of the four elected Co-Captains of the 1975 VOL football squad. As an Alumnus Tim was elected to serve on the Board of the UT Letterman’s Club. Tim had an extended career in Sales throughout his lifetime. The majority of his earlier career years were in the Food and Beverage Industry. The later years of his sales career were in the Exterior Home Improvement Industry. He enjoyed coaching basketball and football in the Knoxville area Youth Leagues for many years as he watched his son, Ellison, participate in Youth Sports. You could also find Tim in the gym daily, since exercising was part of his daily routine. Fall Saturdays for Tim were always spent watching VOL Football. He was proud to be a VFL!! He was a loving and devoted husband to his wife, Becky. Becky and Tim were high school sweethearts at the age of 15. Their lives took them to different states after high school. After attending a high school reunion in 2015 they reconnected, the romance flourished, and they were married on October 13th, 2018. Tim has made the Knoxville area his place of residence for many years. Prior residences included Nashville and Chattanooga, TN, and Huntsville AL. Tim, also affectionately known as “Dad”, “Mr. Tim”, “Papa Tim” & “Pops” to family and close friends, was loved by so many. Tim’s children, Mary Parr and Ellison, will always remember their dad as a lovingly dedicated Father with incredible understanding who set a wonderful example for them as parents. Tim’s devotion and love for his family and friends was exemplified in his caring, giving, and thoughtful ways. His Christian faith was very important to him and he would often reflect on God’s Word and Promise as he traveled his difficult journey with ALS. Precious memories of this kind, sensitive, and caring Southern Gentleman will live on forever in the hearts of family and friends. Tim is predeceased by his father, William Lynn Fitchpatrick, Sr. of St. Petersburg, FL; and his brother Matthew Parr Fitchpatrick of Doraville, GA. He is survived by his loving wife Rebecca “Becky” Bowers Caldwell of Lenoir City, TN; his mother Carolyn Parr Fitchpatrick of Roswell, GA; his brothers Wm. Lynn Fitchpatrick, Jr. (wife Linda) of Cummings, GA, and Mark Allen Fitchpatrick of Doraville, GA; daughter Mary Parr Fitchpatrick Doll (husband Caleb) of Denver, CO; son John Ellison Fitchpatrick (wife Brooke) of Knoxville, TN; grandsons Andrew Evers Doll and Timothy Cade Fitchpatrick; and, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Survived also by his “Bonus” Daughters and Son - Christie Caldwell Hurd (husband Ricky) of Abingdon, VA; Kelly Jeane Caldwell of Anderson, IN; Robert Cameron Caldwell (wife Gina) of Nashville, TN; “Bonus” Grandchildren Lane, Eli, Ella and Dylan Caldwell; and Troy and Ainsley Pennington.
