John Allen March

<p>John Allen March of Choteau passed away; October 11, 2021 at Teton Peak Assisted Living in Choteau.&nbsp; He was 94 years young.&nbsp; Cremation has taken place under the direction of Gorder-Jensen Funeral Home and a graveside service will take place Monday October 18, 2021 at 2:00 pm in Manchester Cemetery, Great Falls, MT where John will be buried next to his wife.</p><p>John was born July 21, 1927 in Lead, South Dakota the only child to Harry Otto and Ella (Brickle) March.&nbsp; John was able to see quite a bit of country side moving around when he was young.&nbsp; His family lived in South Dakota, Missouri and Wyoming.&nbsp; John graduated high school in 1945 and soon after met and married Deloris “Jean” Bonifield.&nbsp; The couple had eight children.&nbsp; in 1954 John and his family made the move to Montana where they settled in Great Falls.</p><p>John worked as a heavy equipment operator and a mechanic, but he was a master craftsman and carpenter and could basically do anything he set his mind too.&nbsp; He worked for Neilson Smith Construction, Long construction and Peabody Construction in Colstrip.&nbsp; He retired from Peabody Construction as their Maintenance Superintendent.&nbsp; After retiring he and Jean became snow birds traveling around the country and seeing the sights and spending summers in Montana. After Jean’s death in 1997 he continued being a snow bird until in 2015 he settled in Choteau at the Skyline Lodge.&nbsp; He lived at Skyline until in March of 2021 he became ill and moved to Teton Peak Assisted Living.</p><p>John enjoyed fishing, telling stories and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.&nbsp; He loved waffles and chocolate pie but above all else he loved spending time with his family.</p><p>John is survived by his children John (Susan) March, Gwyn Caputo, Ron (Christal) March, Jim (Jan) March, Harry (Lynelle) March, Karen (Scott) Greenup, Sherry (Rod) Schye and Shelly (Troy) Spang as well as 30 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.</p><p>John was preceded in death by his wife Jean, his infant daughter Kathy in 1962, his parents Harry and Ella, granddaughter April Wahl and a son-in-law Dan Caputo.</p><p>In Lieu of flowers donations in John’s name are suggested to the Choteau Lion’s Club swimming pool or tennis courts or a charity of the donor’s choice.</p><p>Condolences may be left on-line at www.gorderjensenfuneralhome.com</p><div><br></div>
