Mattie L. Parker (Lansing)

Mrs. Mattie L. Parker passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Holt Senior Care in Holt, Michigan. Age 91 years. She was born May 7, 1930, in Pensacola, Florida to her parents, Barzell, Sr. and Nancy Tate. Mattie moved to Lansing, Michigan with her twin sister, Mazie in 1949. She loved going to church, cooking, gardening, and especially family gatherings with her seven children and extended family. Mattie liked to dress up and had a love for nice hats, she looked good wearing those hats!! Mattie always said her favorite color was green, for the money! She was loved by many people. She leaves to cherish her memory five children, Clarence Watts, Jr., Patricia Horton, and Nancy Nelson, all of Lansing, Michigan, Sheila Jenkins of Beaverton, Oregon, and Karl (Barbara) Parker, Sr. of Grand Rapids, Michigan; grandchildren, Anjenett Horton, Mattie Horton, Keyona (Anthony) Rogers, Michael Jones, Jr., Karl Parker, Jr., Xavier Nelson, Maurice Nelson II, Patricia Parker, Kisha (Neezy) Naval, Jason Keyton, Michael Sorrell, Anthony Parker, and Ceairin Attwood all of Lansing, Michigan, Tony (Tannya) Jenkins of Hillsboro, Oregon, Shateia Jenkins and Sheena Moore of Beaverton, Oregon; grandson-in-law, Curtis Burgos; 44 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Allen Tate of New York and Herman Johnson of Queens, New York; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Parker, Jr.; son, Henry Parker, III; daughter, Kisha Parker Jones; granddaughter, LaToyia Burgos; son-in-law, John Horton; twin sister, Mazie Tate; parents, 8 sisters, and 3 brothers.
