Elvin Gilchrist, 96, of Bagley, Minnesota died on Sunday, October 10, 2021. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cease Family Funeral Home Chapel in Bagley, Minnesota. Interment will be held at the Bagley City Cemetery. Elvin Eugene Gilchrist was born on May 29, 1925 in Delta, Iowa the son of George and Bessie (Goodge) Gilchrist. Elvin grew up and attended grade school in Iowa, before moving to Minnesota in the 8th grade. He immediately went to work logging by hand and did some farming. Elvin planted a tree plantation near Norbord. He has lived in Solway, Backus, Bemidji, and moved to Bagley in 2014. Elvin was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He was a very kind man who enjoyed visiting with people and telling stories. Elvin collected miniature collectable cars and enjoyed reading old western books. He is survived by his special friends- Moni & Trudi Olson of Bagley, MN David & Jan Schmid of Backus, MN Jr. & Becky Schmid and family of Backus, MN Daughter-Edith Christofferson Many grandchildren and great grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sons-Everett and Ernie and 1 grandson
