Charles Joseph Arnold

Charles J. Arnold, 87 of Southampton, NJ, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Virtua Mt. Holly. Born in Philadelphia on October 4, 1934, Charles was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. Charles proudly served as an aircraft radio operator in the United States Air Force. He served as a School Board Member in Riverton for many years. He was a parishioner at St. Mary of the Lakes R.C. Church in Medford for the past 45 years. Charles enjoyed spending time volunteering in the food pantry at St. Vincent DePaul. He retired as owner of William Farrell Co., in Philadelphia in 2002 and enjoyed traveling, gardening, photography, and reading the daily Wall Street Journal and Philadelphia Inquirer (Inky!). He will be remembered as someone who was always kind, thoughtful, and interested in anyone he met. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Arnold (nee Schlindwein); his two children, Laura Dicus (Donald) and Jeffrey Arnold (Carol); his granddaughter Megan Driscoll (Stephen); his sister Helen Weimer (Richard), brother-in-law Martin Schlindwein (Valerie), sister-in-law Joan Schlindwein and numerous loving family members and friends. Relatives and friends may visit the family on Thursday, October 21 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at Mathis Funeral Home 58 N. Main St, Medford. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 am at St. Mary of the Lakes School Chapel, 196 Rt. 70, Medford, NJ 08055. Interment will be held at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Charles’ memory to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, 1 Jones Rd, Medford, NJ 08055.
