SANDRA N. POLCEN Obituary

Sandra Polcen, formally (Monger), age 69 of West Palm Beach FL passed away peacefully at JFK Medical Center, Wednesday, October 6, 2021. She was born in Washington, DC at Sibley Memorial Hospital on May 23, 1952 to the late Paul F Polcen and Helen (Hubscher) Polcen. Sandy built a 30-year career in real estate, where she became a broker and opened her own office. At the same time, she followed other entrepreneurial pursuits, which included opening an upscale wine and spirits shop and becoming a founding partner of Chesapeake Highlands Memorial Gardens. She was a past member of Calvert County Chamber of Commerce. She was known as an excellent cook who loved entertaining family and friends. She was also passionate about gardening, whether it was potting herbs on her deck or landscaping entire properties. Sandy was a kind and loving person respected by all who knew her. She was always there, unconditionally for anyone who needed her. Sandy is survived by her sons, David L Capizzi II and Don Michael Capizzi of Calvert County MD; sister Cynthia L. Polcen (Maske), (husband Carl B. Maske) of St. Leonard, MD. Grandchildren include Dominic Capizzi and Dylan Capizzi of Raliegh Durham, NC; nieces Tabitha L. Musgrove (husband William Musgrove) and Stacy Campbell, nephews James P. Millsap, (wife Kimberly Millsap) and Craig Polcen. Visitation will be Monday, October 18, 2021 from 10am-12pm, and funeral services immediately following at 12pm at Sewell Funeral Home located at 1451 Dares Beach Road, Prince Frederick MD. Interment will be held at Chesapeake Highlands Memorial Gardens in Port Republic MD. A celebration of life will be held at Prince Frederick Rescue Squad following internment (755 Solomons Island Road S. Prince Frederick MD 20678). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvert Hospice P. O. Box 838, Prince Frederick MD, 20678. Her flame burned bright. She left us early, silently and peacefully. Her light will carry on in all those whose life she touched. Officiant will be Michael Parrish with pallbearers David L Capizzi II, Don Capizzi , Dominic Capizzi, Dylan Capizzi, Steve Wallo & Chris Diehl.
