Olivette Redmond Obituary

Olivette Redmond, 74, of Louisburg and a longtime former Parsons resident, passed away at 1:20 p.m., Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at the Olathe Medical Center in Olathe. She was born on November 8, 1946, at Parsons to Oliver and Ruby Mae (VanHoose) Redmond, Sr. Olivette grew up at Parsons and attended Douglass and Parsons schools graduating from Parsons High School in 1964. She attended Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education in 1973. Olivette returned to Parsons where she taught at Washington Elementary School, Head Start, and taught adult education at the Oswego Correctional Facility. She later worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant. Olivette enjoyed cooking, watching the Food Network, playing the piano, crocheting, watching Parsons Viking sports, and most of all she cherished her family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandson. She was a member of the Hamilton Chapel United Methodist Church where she played the piano and helped with church dinners. She also played the piano at New Hope Baptist Church. Olivette was an avid Parsons Viking Fan and especially loved watching her grandchildren play. Olivette was united in marriage to Sam Robinson. They later divorced. She then was married to William “Pat” Dunn and they later divorced. She is survived by her son, Brandon Redmond, of Louisburg; her daughter, Brandi Redmond of Louisburg; her grandchildren, Dannerick Yates, Davonte Yates, Dakiah Yates, and Damais Johnson; her great-grandson, Jadyn Yates; her brother, Oliver Redmond, Jr., and his wife, Monique of Parsons; her sister, Olivia Lyons of Parsons; special friends, Nancy Gard and Gloria Cervantes; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m., Monday. Memorials are suggested to the Hamilton Chapel United Methodist Church or to the Parsons Educational Foundation and these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home 112N. 26th St., P.O.
