Maria Bagobe Obituary

Maria (Angie) Leodora Bagobe; beloved wife of Francisco Bagobe, passed away in Shaunavon on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at the age of 45 years. She is survived by her loving children, Jeremy and Jazlyn, her mother Teodora Julongbayan, her sisters Penny and Shela, her brothers Rico and Marvin, and numerous extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her father Leonardo, and her brothers Pablo and Jose. Maria was born in Balayan, Batangas, Philippines. She attended high school at East Balayan School and Accounting at Immaculate Conception College. Upon graduation from college she worked at an accounting firm. Maria met Francisco in Manilla at a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant on a blind date. They were married on December 10, 2005 in Balayan. Francisco moved to Canada in 2007 to work at an automotive body shop in Calgary. Maria followed him, arriving in 2014 to work at Walmart in Estevan. From there, they moved to Shaunavon in 2015, where they began to raise their family. When asked, “What did Mama love to do?” Jazlyn replied, “Mama loved to cook.” Francisco added that she made delicious pansit noodles. Jeremy said, “Mama loved to water her flowers,” and her sister Penny noted that, “Maria loved shopping for clothing, shoes, and purses, and she shared her clothing with her sisters. Maria also enjoyed reading romance novels.” Maria’s children, Jeremy and Jazlyn were the light of her life and she was a loving, devoted mother to them. She encouraged them to live a faithful Catholic life and also supported their school education with many activities and stories at home to develop them into life-long learners. Maria’s love of others reached extended family and friends, where she modelled kindness, courage, obedience, and humility. She helped others to grow their faith as she faced her trials with a deep trust and devotion to Jesus, and gratitude for the people and blessings in her life. Maria was an angel on earth to so many of us. A prayer vigil was held at the home of Maria and Francisco on September 28th, and Novena services were held by the Filipino community for eight days at the home of Maria and Francisco. A Funeral Mass was held at Christ the King Church, Shaunavon, on Wednesday, October 6th, with Father Melchor Samonte officiating. A eulogy was presented by Maria’s sister and caregiver, Penny Castillo. Memorial donations can be made to Francisco Bagobe, in support of raising his children. Please send these donations to Binkley’s Funeral Service, Box 207, Shaunavon, SK, S0N 2M0. If preferred, donations can be made to a Go Fund Me campaign in Maria Bagobe’s name. Francisco and his children and extended family wish to thank Father Melchor, Binkley’s Funeral Service, the Shaunavon Home Care case manager and nurses, the Shaunavon Hospital, the Swift Current Hospital, the Pasqua Hospital, the Filipino community, the community of Shaunavon, and all others who have supported Maria and their family with friendship and love.
