Johnny Ray Bratton, Jr. Obituary

Johnny Ray Bratton, Jr., 41, of Maiden, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Atrium Health in Pineville. Born December 23, 1979 in Princeton, WV, he was the son of Zendal (Zeke) Workman and the late Kellene Pertee Workman. In addition to his mother, Kellene, he was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ralph Waldron; grandmother, Laura Workman; and a sister Amanda Cook. He is survived by his maternal grandmother, Creta Waldron; step-father, Zeke Workman; fiancée, Rebecca Fulbright Coxey and her children: Anna and Colton Coxey; children: Cloe Bratton, Aden Bratton, and Ryan Altman and significant other, Dominique and their son, Kaysen Altman; two sisters: Creta Beard and husband Teddy and their daughter, Madison; Crystal Faulkner and husband Joey and their children, Miranda and Haley Faulkner; Amanda’s children, Shandy McSwain and Holden McSwain. Johnny was an amazing brilliant man who loved those around him. He loved his children, grandson, and Rebecca more than he loved himself. If you had the pleasure of meeting him you knew he had a huge heart. Johnny took Ryan in as a child and became his father. He is a reflection of Johnny as he has the same giving and loving heart just like his children Cloe and Aden. Johnny also loved Rebecca’s children Anna and Colton as his own. One thing that made Johnny proud and happy was becoming a grandpa to Ryan’s son Kaysen. He made the most of everything in life. He loved all the guys he worked with and would do anything for anyone. He loved to cook, listen to music, get almost impossible finance deals done, and make people laugh. He could be the most professional person one minute and act like a complete idiot the next, which is what made him such a special person. We would like to thank all who loved him especially his work family. Thank you Randy Marion Jr and Sr, John Boyette, Sam Wilson, Jeff Sisk, and all the other guys who made an impact on his life. Johnny graciously wanted to be an organ donor so we have honored his wishes and shared what we could to save and better the lives of others. Organ donation is rare and we encourage everyone to think about donating to share the gift of life. Special thanks to all the doctors, nurses, PAs, NPs, Life Sharing of the Carolinas, and all of the wonderful amazing staff at Atrium Health Pineville. You all made a devastating tragedy so much more bearable. They are elite in the medical field! The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2021 in the chapel at Bass-Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Gavin Mize officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends, prior to the service from 2 – 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Bass-Smith Funeral Home in Hickory is serving the Bratton family.
