George "Blackie" William Reames

George “Blackie” William Reames, 87 With sadness in our hearts, Blackie passed away on October 9, 2021 in Coeur d' Alene with his loving family by his side. George “Blackie” William Reames was born in Sasakawa, Oklahoma on July 8, 1934 to Bill (William) and Nevada Reames. To those who were blessed to know him, he was a constant example of excellence, hard work, love for God, love for family and unconditional compassion. Blackie's hard work ethics began at a very early age working on farms in Oklahoma, picking cotton and walnuts with his siblings when he was just 5 years old. He went on to work in the oil fields as a derrick operator until moving to Las Vegas, where he managed the maintenance department at the Hyatt Hotel and Casino. Blackie eventually found his way to North Idaho, where he ran the maintenance department at Stoneridge Resort in Twin Lakes before starting his own business, A-1 Quality Home Repair, in which he operated until retirement in 2000. In 1985 Blackie married Marilyn, who he absolutely adored and doted on every day thereafter. Blackie's greatest joy was spending time with family, whether it be the numerous nieces and nephews that he loved so much, or his cherished grandchildren, teaching them the values of hard work and determination. They spent many days on the farm together creating those values and wonderful memories that will last a lifetime. I know Grandpa, always measure twice and cut once! George leaves behind his wife, Marilyn at home; brother, Ed and children: Sandy, Rob, and Julie; 11 grandchildren: Tammy, Sherie, Christie, Lindsey, Christopher, Sarah, Patrick, Kyle, Danny, Megan and Randee; 19 great grandchildren; a recently born great-great grandchild; his dog, Sam and cat, Boots. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; brothers, Jesse, Gene, and Vern; sisters, Artie, Effie, and Ruby; daughter, Randy; son, Jeff; and granddaughter, Leslie. Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday October 16, 2021 at Yates Funeral Home - Hayden Chapel, 373 E. Hayden Ave. Hayden, Idaho 83835 with a reception there to follow. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, October 18, 2021 at Riverview Cemetery. Donations may be sent to the SIDS Foundation or the local Children's Village.
