Christopher Carl Smart, 35, of Bemidji, MN passed away Monday, October 11, 2021 at his home. A Celebration of Life will be held from 3 – 7 pm on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at the Hotel Bemidji (formerly the Holiday Inn Express at 2422 Ridgeway Ave NW ) The Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji assisted the family. Christopher was born April 4, 1986 at the Grand Forks Air Force Base, North Dakota, the son of Hal and Sherri (Larson) Smart. He was raised and educated in Baudette, MN, after graduation and a few years of working at Lakewood Care Center, he moved to Bemidji in 2008 where he resided until his passing. He worked overnights at Walmart where he made a wonderful second family whom he made into lifelong friends. Christopher may have been a quiet and reserved individual, but once he found a common interest, he would open up and let you see the real him. He had a lifelong love and appreciation for anything Star Wars, Nintendo and other gaming, and anime. He loved to sketch and draw various Anime Characters. He was a caring soul who would do anything he could to help a friend in need. Christopher loved to travel. When he was young, he lived in Germany and loved to travel to other countries. He also visited Washington DC, Florida, and had many trips to Ohio and Missouri to visit family. He is survived by his parents Hal and Sherri Smart of Grand Forks, ND, sister Samantha (Paul Schrems) of Bemidji, brother Joshua Smart of Eaton, Ohio, nieces Serenity, Quinn, Lilah and nephews Jace and D.J. , grandfather Herb Lachut, as well as many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Paul and Gail Mayerchak, Arnold Larson, Beverly Lachut, and great aunts and uncles Joan Murray, Sandra (Jill) and Mike Byrns, and Jack Blom.
