Joseph Eugene Wynn

Joseph Eugene Wynn, 94, of Richmond, Va., went to be with the Lord on October 9, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elliot Greene Wynne, known as “Dick” and Verna Bennett Wynne; brother, Elliot Greene “E.G.” Wynne Jr. of Mount Airy, Va.; and sister, Evelyn Wynne Glass of Williamston, N.C. He is survived by his wife, Jean Wynn; son, Garyn Wynn; daughter, Myra Wynn; and many loving friends and family. Joseph was born in Williamston, N.C. on August 24, 1927. He attended High Point University for one semester when Uncle Sam called and he decided to join the United States Navy. He was in the navy for two years from 1946 to 1948, then went on to pursue a degree at Wake Forest University. Joseph graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business, with a minor in Religion. He later worked for the Commonwealth of Virginia as an accountant in many different departments, later becoming a certified fraud examiner. Joseph was the first business manager at John Tyler Community College. After retiring in 1991, Joseph and his wife, Jean, did a lot of traveling. He enjoyed playing bingo in his spare time. He read the newspaper and his Bible daily. Joseph was a member of Huguenot Road Baptist Church, where he was a deacon. He and Jean were charter members of Huguenot Road Baptist Church since 1964. A graveside ceremony will be held 1 p.m. Friday, October 15, 2021 at Sunset Memorial Park, 2901 W. Hundred Rd., Chester, Va. 23831. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your favorite charity or Huguenot Road Baptist Church.

Mrs. Wynn, Myra, and Garyn, I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your husband and father, Mr. Wynn. Although it's been many years that I've seen each of you, since my high school/college years, I remember you fondly and you're in my thoughts and prayers.
