Louis Edward Washington, 70, formerly of Columbia, Missouri, passed away Monday, July 12, 2021, succumbing to a brain tumor, glioblastoma multiforme. Memorial Services will be at 10:30 AM, Saturday, October 23, 2021, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, Missouri. Burial will be at the Flint Hill Cemetery in Rural New London, Missouri. Friends and Family are invited to Louis' Life Celebration at a visitation that will be from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM, Saturday, October 23, 2021, at the funeral home. Louis was born June 27, 1951, in Columbia, Missouri to Edward L. Washington and Mary Ruth Lennox Washington. Louis was married to Barbara Reed in Park Hills, Kentucky in 1985. She survives. Louis was preceded in death by his parents and leaves behind his wife and brother, in addition to many cousins, nieces, nephews and Gussie, his beloved Westie. Louis developed a long-held interest in music while at Hickman High School in Columbia, Missouri. He was a keyboard performer for a Columbia band he co-founded, the "Ensytes". The band played locally for parties. He was particularly focused on the piano and attended the Interlochen School for the Performing Arts in Michigan. After graduation from Hickman High in 1969, he continued his interest. Louis joined the USN and performed as a vocalist for the Blue Jacket Choir and was honorably discharged in 1971. He then attended the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he graduated with a degree in Music Performance and Education in 1975. After graduation, he worked at the University of Missouri Records Department in Columbia and Kansas City. Moving to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1980, he took a job with Tab Products, working for Tab in Cincinnati and Palo Alto, California until 1988. Louis married the love of his life, Barbara Reed, in 1985 at Park Hills, Kentucky. He went on to work for Bruce Crock in Cincinnati from 1988 to 1990, beginning his work tenure with Cincom in 1990. Louis rose to upper management in Marketing, finally retiring in 2017. Louis remained on staff at Cincom as a Content Writer Marketing Consultant until December of 2020. Louis was a man of diverse interests and talents. He taught himself acoustic guitar, composed music and wrote lyrics for several music CDs. He was a member of the PT Cruiser Club and participated in the Single Action Shooting Society as "Curly Lou". He was an active member of the Blessed Sacrament Church and Choir of Fort Mitchell, Kentucky. He developed a woodworking business, selling guitar stands and displays for antique guns and swords. He and Barbara were longtime dog and cat lovers, rescuing a number of animals in need.
