Rosa Lippolis Obituary

Rosa Lippolis (Addabbo), 89, of Manchester CT passed away surrounded by her loving family on October 12, 2021. Rosa was born in Noci (Bari), Italy on July 21, 1932. Rosa was married to Nicola Lippolis on September 17, 1964; they were married for 54 years. She and Nicola immigrated to the United States in 1967 and made Manchester their home. Rosa was the oldest of six siblings and prided herself on being a compassionate and strong big sister, qualities that she carried forward into adulthood as she fully embraced the roles of devoted wife and loving mother. Rosa kept her happy home filled with lush, flourishing plants, and she never missed a chance to go out into the yard and care for the beautiful flowers that she loved as if they, too, were her children. Rosa always looked forward to her next trip back to Noci to visit with cherished family and old friends and to stay in the first home that she and Nicola had shared as newlyweds. Rosa was an amazing cook and expertly skilled at knitting and embroidery, but she jumped at the opportunity to get out of the house to go antique shopping or have a nice lunch out with those she loved. But nothing gave Rosa more joy than being a loving grandmother to her four grandchildren. Whether it was gently rocking them to sleep, singing Italian nursery rhymes to make them laugh, or patiently teaching them how to make her world-famous focaccia, Rosa loved them so much that she was often brought to tears at the thought of not seeing them for any length of time. Rosa is survived by her children Pasqua and husband Michael Guzzi and Domenico and wife Claire Lippolis, and her grandchildren Amanda Guzzi of New York, NY, Sara Guzzi, Francesca Lippolis, and Giuliana Lippolis of Manchester, CT, and Laura Addabbo of Chesterfield, MA. She is also survived by her siblings Luca (Maria) Addabbo of Manchester, CT and Mario (Daphne) Addabbo of Chesterfield, MA, her brothers-in-law Eduardo (Margherita) Lippolis of Noci, Italy, and Mario (Mariolina) Lippolis of Putignano, Italy, and her sisters-in-law Elizabeth (Robert) Fleischer of Fairfield, CT, and Maria Dongiovanni, Marisa Lippolis, Luciana Lippolis, and Giulia Lippolis of Noci, Italy, and countless nieces and nephews in both Italy and the United States. Rosa is preceded in death by her husband Nicola Lippolis, her parents Vitantonio and Luigia (Dragone) Addabbo, her siblings Laura Carucci of Noci, Italy, and Pasquale Addabbo and Francesco Addabbo of Manchester, CT, her brothers-in-law Vincenzo Carucci, Giovanni Lippolis, Andrea Lippolis, Felice Lippolis, and Francesco Dongiovanni of Noci, Italy, and her sisters-in-law Antonia Addabbo and Judi Addabbo of Manchester, CT. Visitation will be held from 9:00 - 10:30 AM on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St. in Manchester, CT. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Saint James Church, 896 Main St. in Manchester, CT. We are respecting Manchester’s mask mandate. A burial ceremony will follow the funeral mass. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Istituto ANTONIANO dei PADRI ROGAZIONISTI Via Tiziano Minio, 15 - 35134 PADOVA , Italy.
