Roy Genaille
<p>Roy Genaille passed away peacefully on October 11, 2021, with his son Robbie by his side at the Swan River Valley Health Centre, Swan River, Manitoba.</p> <p> </p> <p>May 4, 1991, Roy married Robin Kematch in Birch River, Manitoba and they raised five children in Indian Birch Reserve, Manitoba. The last 14 years he raised his six grandchildren Joelle, Jenelle, Jettah, Jasper, Jojo and Joyanna.</p> <p> </p> <p>Roy will be greatly missed by his children Roberta Brass, Roy Brass (Shannon), Charlene Church, Roy Jr. Kematch, Robbie Genaille, Rebecca Genaille, Ryan Genaille (Samantha) Joseph Kematch (Lore); grandchildren Roy R, Shakira, Tegan, Teanna, Shyrah, Donavan, Corvin Brass, Hunter Gott, Drayah, Drayden Genaille, Alicyn, Rayden, Roman, Gordon, Kacey, Reign, Reyna, Sienna Kematch-Genaille, Izzie, Summer, Rhythm, and Philly Church; great-grandchildren Olivia, Sophia Gott and Rowan Monios; god children Josh Kematch, Creelynn Kematch, Christian Cook-Kematch, Chassidy Bourassa and Nelson Kematch; sisters Lena Gott, and Mary (Albert) Campeau; brothers Daniel (Shirley) Genaille, Percy (Shirley) Genaille and Raymond Genaille; mother-in-law Florence Kematch-Roy cherished and loved like a mother; auntie Irene Genaille; brothers-in-law Nathan, Adrian, Seaford, Cory Kematch and Lester Brass; sister-in-law Kari Cook and Serena Kematch.</p> <p> </p> <p>Roy loved spending time and teaching his children and grandchildren valuable life skills that were passed on to him like hunting, trapping, and fishing. It was important to him to pass these traditional teachings to his children and grandchildren. Roy’s most favorite was camping in Kettle Hills, Manitoba with his family and friend’s blueberry picking. Roy enjoyed his goose hunting and trapping at the first signs of spring, when he spent time with his granddaughter Joelle, as well as the spring fishing with grandson Rayden Roman.</p> <p> </p> <p>Roy enjoyed working, he worked in numerous areas as a laborer. If there was work to be done, you could count on Roy. Roy had a favorite hobby of wood working and enjoyed seasonal decorating on the outside of his house. He enjoyed country cruising and taking his grandchildren for quad/skidoo rides.</p> <p> </p> <p>Last but not least his most important times, was being and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. All the children of Wuskwi Sipihk referred to him as PAPA, even if most of the children were not his grandkids.</p> <p> </p> <p>Roy was predeceased by his parents George and Emma Genaille; brothers Dolphus Genaille, Paul Genaille and Wilfred Genaille; sisters Marie Brass, Margaret Genaille, and Charlotte Genaille; father-in-law Seaford Kematch; grandson Keenan Linklater; uncle Paul Genaille, as well as numerous other uncles, aunts, cousins, friends and family members that are too many to name, that has left before him.</p> <p> </p> <p>If we the family have missed anyone, it was not done intentionally, and we apologize for the error.</p> <p> </p> <p>A special thanks from the family for Kecia Genaille and Penny Eaglestick for their caregiving and taking care of Roy during his illness.</p> <p> </p>October 30, 1960 - October 11, 202110/30/196010/11/2021
