FOUNTAIN, ARTHUR JOSEPH, age 96, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at Green Acres in Mt. Pleasant under the care of Heartland Hospice. Funeral Services for Art will be held at Mt. Pleasant Community Church, 1400 W. Broomfield St., Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858, on Monday, October 18, at 3 p.m. with Pastor Wally Hostetter officiating. Interment will be held at Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Military Honors. A Luncheon will follow graveside services back at the church. The family will receive friends at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Sunday, October 17, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue the day of the service from 2 p.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Pleasant Community Church or Community Cancer Services. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and church. Art was born on January 19, 1925 in Decatur, MI, son of Edward and Wilhelmina (Feenstra) Fountain. After graduating high school, Art enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served in WWII and the Korean Conflict. Upon returning home, Art married Marjorie Mae Jones on October 7, 1950, in Flushing. He owned and operated Art's Barbershop for 50 years. Art enjoyed giving back to his community. He was a charter member and elder of the Mt. Pleasant Community Church, member of Masonic Lodge Wabon 305, Eastern Star, and a 20-year member of the Mt. Pleasant Lions Club. Art enjoyed chair caning, carpentry, and remodeling homes. Art is survived by his children, Jim (Piper) Fountain of Mason, Martha (Richard) Woodward of Marion, MA, and Gerald (Kelly) Fountain of Mt. Pleasant; 11 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; brothers, Clarence Fountain and James (Learose) Fountain, all of Kalamazoo. Art was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie in 2017; grandson, Daniel Howland Woodward in 1987; parents; and siblings, Marvin Fountain, Joseph (Ann) Fountain, and Jane (John) Polomack; and sister-in-law, Shirley Fountain.
