James Michael Simmons, 80 years old of Davenport, Florida passed away peacefully on Monday, October 11, 2021 at Orlando Health Regional Medical Center in Florida, with his loving family by his side. James was born on January 11, 1941 in the small town of Mount Airy, Surry County, North Carolina. He is the son of the late James Curtis and Nellie "Nell" Ruth Simmons. James, "Mike" was the loving husband of 26 years to Arcadia Pagan Simmons. James served his country in the United States Air Force for four years. Upon completion he returned to Mount Airy where he entered into the textiles industry. He worked his way up and became Vice President of Quality Control of his company for many years. James enjoyed traveling all over the United States and Central America during his career. He enjoyed fishing and loved the beach and anything to do with nature. He was a very hardworking man and a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Everyone who knew James "Mike" would tell you that he was a kind and caring person, a friend you could always count on. He will be truly missed by all. James is preceded in death by his brother Randall Curtis Simmons Sr. as well as a great granddaughter Kylie Mae Simmons. Besides his loving wife, Arcadia; he is survived by his children, son James Michael Simmons, Jr. and wife Linda Joyce Simmons, daughters Tina Simmons Wilson, Magaly Brown and husband Adrian Brown, Rose Dillard and husband Titus Dillard Jr., Stephanie Holmes and husband Joshua Holmes. Sister, Susan "Susie" Simmons Henry and husband Mike Henry, Grandchildren; Mikey Simmons and wife Heather, Ashley Wilson, Adrian Brown Jr. and wife Emily, Matthew Brown, Isabella Brown, Jaileen Aguilar, Angelica Ortiz, Julian Dillard, Bryson Dillard, Daniel Griffin, Mason Holmes, Madison Holmes, and great grandchildren Harrison and Colton Simmons, and many loving nieces and nephews. The family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00am - 12:00pm on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at Winter Oak Funeral Home, 1132 E. Plant Street, Winter Garden, FL 34787. With Burial immediately following the Service at 2:00pm at The Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513.
