Luna C. Manley

Luna “Blossom” Cleopatra Manley (Henry) was a caring mother, grandmother great-grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. She left this world on October 7, 2021. She was born in the Parish of St. Mary, Jamaica West Indies to Tula Amberzine Henry and Louis Alexander Snape. She was educated in Jamaica as a seamstress. She migrated to the United States in 1963, where she lived in the Bronx, met and married Otis Manley. The family, later moved to Corona, Queens, NY where she remained and raised her three children: Marlene (Angie) Gregory and Kevin. Luna would make a living sewing for other people. She was employed with Workman Circle Home for Aged as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant for thirty years until her retirement 2003. Her greatest accomplishment was being a devoted mother to her three children. Luna loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for her family, friends and the church community. For many years Luna gave back to the community through her worship at Grace Episcopal Church of Corona. You could always find her in the church kitchen creating one of her many specialties. She lovingly served the less fortunate with her church members Lorna, Doreen and Elaine, just to name a few. She was an active member of the NAACP and often participated in fund raising functions. Luna also loved to travel. Cruising was one of her favorite hobbies. She would cruise the world with her partners in crime, Lorna and Norma, as well as her church members. Luna is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Tula and Louis; grandson, Etach; brother, Linvan; sister/cousins, Norma and Lorna. Luna leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Marlene (Angie); sons, Greg and Kevin; grandchildren, Akura, Tiffany, Kevin, Tyler, Kennedy; great-grandchildren, Bryan and Nalani; siblings, Kay, Joyce, Lorna, Paulette; brother/Cousin in law, Barry Barrett.
