Dominick E Moschella Obituary

MOSCHELLA, DOMINICK E (aka DOMINIC), 93, of Absecon passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at home. Born in Pleasantville on June 28, 1928, to Antoinette (Ferriola) and Emanuel Moschella, Dominick was the last survivor of the five Moschella boys from Marion Ave. A natural athlete, Dominick excelled at baseball. He graduated from PHS in 1946 with a record setting batting average. Following graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy. He served on the USS Charles R Ware DD-865, where he was the tenth longest serving sailor onboard. Dominick was both a WWII and Korean War Veteran, with a combined active duty and reserve career of 36 years, retiring as a CWO4 and receiving 5 medals. During his time in England, he met his wife Kathleen (Edwards), a member of the Women’s Royal Navy. They made their home and raised their family in Pleasantville. Dominick had a long career in electronics, owning his own TV/radio repair business for many years, working as a slot tech in Atlantic City casinos and with AC Coin and Slot at their corporate headquarters. He took a two year break from his business in the late 70’s and went back into the active Navy, working at the Pentagon in an administrative role. Along the way he earned a degree in electronics and several related certifications. Dom’s true passion was baseball. He was a star player for the Pleasantville A’s baseball team. Known for “knocking them out of the park” it was always exciting to watch him at bat. He shared his love of baseball with the community by coaching Little League and Babe Ruth in both Pleasantville and EHT. His dedication to teaching sportsmanship and teamwork earned him several team championships and recognition from the leagues. A 68 year member of American Legion Post 28, Dom was a proud supporter of Veteran’s causes. He never forgot the price paid for freedom. He also never forgot his heritage and was a lifelong supporter of the Sons of Italy Foundation as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus. Dominick is predeceased by his wife Kathleen and his brothers Ralph, Frank, Salvatore and Joseph Moschella. He is survived by his children Michael Moschella (Peggy), Christopher Moschella (Denise) and Rosemarie Moschella Cook (Donald), grandchildren Michelle Cook Stewart (Michael), Lindsey Cook Kelly (Thomas), Marie Moschella Wyllie (Matthew), Keturah Moschella and Aleeza Moschella, sisters in law Mary Moschella and Barbara Moschella and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to acknowledge Serge Ayi-Bamah for his care of Dominick over the last two years, helping us honor Dominick’s wishes to be in his own home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 18, 2021 at 10AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Rt 30, Absecon. Interment with military honors will follow at the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery in Estell Manor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, American Legion Post 28 or The Sons of Italy Foundation. Arrangements by and condolences at www.adams-perfect.com
