Pasquale M. Yanni Obituary

Pasquale (Pat) Yanni, 93, died on October 13, 2021. His wife of 70 years is Palma Adamo Yanni. He was the son of the late Nicholas Yanni, and the late Mary and Joseph Costanzo, and was born and raised in Scranton. Pat, a man of strong faith, was a member of St. Peter’s Cathedral and attended 6:30 mass every morning for over 60 years. A graduate of Scranton Technical High School, Pat worked at Standard Iron Works and later owned and operated his own construction business. He volunteered his time remodeling the Hotel Scranton into the first St. Francis of Assisi Kitchen and served on its Board of Directors. He was a founding member of the North Scranton Knights of Columbus, where he served as Grand Knight, a member of St. Ann’s Assembly, and State Warden for his district. He was a member of Scranton UNICO National where he served as Chapter President, was on the Board of Directors, and was National District Governor where he received “The Distinguished District Governor’s Award” and the Scranton Chapter “UNICAN of the Year.” He was active and volunteered in all UNICO functions including the famous Porketta Tent at the La Festa Italiana. He received the Humanitarian Award from the Chapel of Four Chaplains, was involved in many church functions and other organizations. He was a master of all trades and was always there to help everyone. Pat was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and dear friend to all. His family was his life and his love for them was deep. He will be missed dearly, but remembered daily in all we do. Along with his wife, Pat is survived by four children, Ann Marie Yanni (Scranton), Maria Farley (Orefield), Lisa Gaynord and husband Tom (Scranton), Dr. Anthony Yanni and his wife Karen (Scranton); 12 Grandchildren, Sean Eckenrode and wife Kristen, Kevin Eckenrode and wife Jackie, Kelli Eckenrode, Ryan Farley and wife Jackie, Corey Farley and wife Megan, Jaime Farley, Timothy Gaynord, Patrick Yanni, Gina Yanni, Nicholas Yanni, and Elisa Yanni; Four Great Grandchildren, Aryana Farley, Finley Walsh, Nathan Farley and Vivian Farley; Two sisters, Josephine Mahon, and Rose Mary Shoener and husband Roy; nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his beloved Grandson Tommy Gaynord and sister Carmella Emanuel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 9:30 am in St. Peter’s Cathedral 315 Wyoming Ave., Scranton. Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery. The family will greet family and friends at the conclusion of the Mass outside in front of the Cathedral.
