William (Rainbow) Russell Underwood Obituary

William Russell Underwood Jr. 64 of Columbus, Georgia passed away October 12, 2021 at Piedmont Hospital in Columbus, Georgia.  Visitation will be held Friday October 15, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. eastern time at Colonial Funeral Home in Phenix City, Alabama. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Colonial Funeral Home with burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Columbus, Georgia.

William was born January 12, 1957 in Samford, North Carolina to William and Lily Underwood.  William loved fishing and was a big Georgia football fan. He will be remembered as a great storyteller who could certainly hold your attention.  Retired from maintenance at Kelloggs Bakery.  A Baptist by faith, William loved his family and will be missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his father William Russell Underwood Sr. and sister Carol Grantham.  First wife Irene Foster Underwood. His second wife Frances Foster Underwood.  Survivors are his mother, Lily Proctor of Columbus, Georgia.  One brother Tony Underwood (Jennifer), of Columbus, Georgia.  One sister Donna Scarborough (Vance), of Phenix City, Alabama.  Three step-sons Allen Harrell, Billy Harrell and Mike Harrell.  Stepdaughter Charlene Martin; stepsons Jay Vaughn and Stephen Vaughn; special cousin, Eddie Colbert.  Several step-grandchildren.  Several nieces and nephews.
