Luon Danh Nguyen
<p>Nguyen Danh Luon was an officer of the Republic of Vietnam. He served in the C2 (Command & Control) unit at Binh Dinh, KBC 4262, ranking Sergeant Major of the army. For his 24 years of service, he was awarded: the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry (Anh-Dũng Bội-Tinh) , the Republic Vietnam Campaign (Chiến Dịch h Bội Tinh) , the Vietnam Staff Service Medal (Tham Mưu Bội Tinh), the Purple Heart Medal ( chiến trường Bội Tinh ), the Military Merit medal- ( Quân công Bội tinh), the Vietnam Military Service medal (Quan Vu Boi Tinh ) , and the Good Conduct Medal ( Quan Phong Boi Tinh).</p><p><br></p><p>He was born on April 2, at Binh Dinh, Vietnam and was the sixth child in the family. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mai Kim Nguyen and his children Trang, Huong, Han, Hoa, Hy and Don. After the fall of South Viet Nam in 1975, he moved his family to Ban Co, Saigon. In 1979, after his release from the Educational Concentration “Camp”, he led his family on a harrowing 8 day journey by boat to flee the Communists. They stayed on a refugee camp on the Indonesian coast for one year before being accepted as refugees to the USA.</p><p><br></p><p>After working long hours in various manual jobs, he became a successful business owner later in life and retired at the age of 62. In enjoyed fishing, dancing, singing, gardening and traveling. He was a good man, loving husband, and attentive father. He never had the chance to attend a university, but he instilled in his kids and grandkids the aspirations for higher education.
