Kermit Boggs

<p>Kermit Boggs Sr., 94, of Lancaster, passed away October 13, 2021 at Landmark of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Martha Joseph Boggs. Kermit was born on September 8, 1927 in Leslie County, KY to the late Levi and Bertha Day Boggs.</p> <p>He was a truck driver for many years. Later in life, he was Garrard County Deputy Jailer for over 12 years. His passion was serving the Garrard County community.&nbsp;</p> <p>Kermit was a member of Church of Christ in Leslie County, KY.</p> <p>Surviving are two sons; Ricky Monroe Boggs(Vonda) of Science Hill, and Billy Boggs(Shelly) of Lancaster; three daughters, Gloria Trexler(Cecil) of South Carolina, Josephine Hale(Doug) of Lancaster, and Donna Hopkins(Bradley) of Lancaster; grandchildren, Christy Hensley(Fieldon) of Lancaster, Katie Boggs Kidd (Cody) of Crab Orchard, Brandi Hale of Lancaster, Bradley Hopkins Jr. (Elaine) of Lancaster, Mikey Hopkins of Lancaster, John Trexler of South Carolina, Denise Hickman of South Carolina, Tammy Wise of South Carolina, Anthony Watson, and Wanda Hopkins Shelton, who will be his special escort to Dix River Church of Christ Cemetery, his final resting place; two special great-grandchildren, Charlie Hensley and Avery Hensley, Serenity Boggs, Kaylee Kidd, Brandon Hubner, Jacob Trexler, Justin Trexler, Jenna Trexler and Sydney Davis.</p> <p>Along with his wife and parents, Kermit was preceded in death by a son, Kermit &quot;Frog&quot; Boggs Jr., four brothers, Homer, Lee, Henry J., and Dillard Boggs; and two sisters, Mallie Baker and Carrie Deaton.</p> <p>Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at Spurlin Funeral Home of Lancaster with Bro. Gary Maggard&nbsp;officiating.</p> <p>Visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 PM Saturday, October 16, 2021 at the funeral home.</p> <p>Burial will be at Dix River Church of Christ Cemetery in Stanford, KY.</p> <p>Active pallbearers are Lee Ann Miller, Kay Hall, Dave Amon, John Smith, Kevin Montgomery, and Fieldon Hensley.</p> <p>Honorary pallbearers are James Lear, Mary Smith, Mike McQuerry, Ronnie Wardrip, and Mark Metcalf.</p>
