David Christian Mackin

David “Dave” Mackin, late of Melaval, SK, passed away October 8, 2021 at the age of 83 years. He was the youngest of 8 children born to Robert “Bob” and Helen Mackin. He completed grades 1 -12 in Melaval and went on to further his education at Balfour Technical School in Regina, studying mechanics. Dave's knowledge was vast growing up working in his father’s garage. He was able to challenge all the exams passing with ease. Sadly, Dave’s father passed away in 1964. Dave continued to operate the garage in Melaval. Dave was an exceptional mechanic, could weld and fix anything, a jack of all trades. He enjoyed mentoring many students as they apprenticed in the field and taught work experience with the school until 1995. He enjoyed skeet shooting, hosting the local coffee crew and had a great love of animals, especially cats and dogs. Dave is survived by his sister Rae Jordet; He was predeceased by his parents Helen and Robert Mackin and brothers Ashley Mackin, Doug Mackin, Roger Mackin, and Phillip “Bing” Mackin, William “Bill” Mackin, and sister Virginia “Vir” Vogel. A Private Graveside Service will be held at a later date. Memorial tributes may be made to STARS Air Ambulance, 2640 Airport Road Regina, SK, S4W 1A3.
