Irene Moore Obituary

Irene (Blanchard) Moore passed away peacefully on October 11, 2021 at Ebeid Hospice Residence. Born to Susie (Abrams) and Cain Blanchard in Toledo, OH. on April 26,1936, she was the second child and the oldest girl. She graduated from Jesup W. Scott High School. She married William Moore and to this union, their son, William “Craig” Moore Jr. was born. Irene then worked at Toledo Hospital and also worked for an insurance company where she was a valued employee. After a brief career, she became a homemaker. Irene loved being a mother and a wife and was devoted to William and Craig. She and William were married almost thirty years, until his death in 1988.

Irene’s daily schedule after preparing meals for her family was focused solely on her true pleasure, watching her afternoon soap operas. This time was so precious to her that people knew not to interrupt her during her soap viewing hours. However, she was always happy to spend any other time with her six siblings and her nephews and nieces. She and her sisters would play cards and the men talked about current events. The sisters would get caught up on the family news. These memories were important because she truly cherished her family.

Irene was a member of St. Paul Methodist A.M.E. for many years. Her hobbies were playing cards, savoring good food, and enjoying visits from her son Craig and daughter-in-law Andrea. Her grandsons Trevor and Joshua gave her special joy. Irene was affectionately called “T’Rene” by the nieces and nephews. She truly adored them for their academic, athletic, and community accomplishments. Her glowing praise was always inspiring to them and left proud blushes on their faces. She wanted them to be successful and encouraged them every time she saw them.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William Craig Moore Sr. and her son, William Craig Moore Jr., her brother; Edward Blanchard, sisters; Brenda Payne, Susie Sanders, and Gloria McFadden.

Irene leaves to cherish her memories brothers Herbert (Norma) Blanchard and Charles (Floyda) Blanchard, grandsons Joshua (Iman) Moore and Trevor Moore, daughter in law Andrea Moore, along with a host of nieces, nephews and special friend Barbara Ifeduba.

For the last several years, Irene was a resident of Lakes of Sylvania Assisted Living Facility. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to her main caregivers, Carrie Black and Bridgette Ingleton, and the rest of the staff who took care of her faithfully. We also would like to give recognition to her long-time physician, Dr. Fayad, who managed her care with compassion until the end. Thank you to all who have covered the family with love, prayers, and support.
