<p>Katherine Jean &ldquo;Kathy&rdquo; Elkins, 62, of Ashland, passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. Kathy was born October 2, 1959 in Homestead, Florida, a daughter of Phyllis Lyttleton Sexton of Franklin, TN and the late Edward Earl Sexton. In addition to her father, Kathy was also preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Arnold E. &ldquo;Doc&rdquo; and Garnett Louise Sexton.<br /> Kathy was a 1977 graduate of Paul G. Blazer High School and a loving homemaker to her children.<br /> Those left to cherish her memory in addition to her mother include her children Michael Weed of Ashland, Kevin Pennington and his wife Jessica of South Point, OH, her daughter Lori Herring of Port Saint Lucie, FL, her brother Joe Sexton and wife Amy of Ft. Worth, TX, sisters Karen Dodge and husband Bob of Thousand Oaks, CA, Sheri Kennedy and husband Shelby of Nashville, TN, her granddaughter Haley Herring, several nieces, nephews and extended family.<br /> She was a sweet soul and will be sorely missed.<br /> Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Sunday, October 17, 2021 at the Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel. Chaplain Jimm Smedley will officiate.
