Judith B. Avedisian

Judith (Judy) Blanchard Avedisian, 83, of Caledonia, NY died peacefully on October 8, 2021. She enjoyed a beautiful week with most of her large family, surrounded by prayer, songs, memory sharing and kisses. Judy took her last breath listening to her music therapist sing and play hymns ushering her into heaven.

She is survived by the love of her life, Arman G Avedisian, her sister Penny (Gene) Fisher, her three children, Marcy (Kurt) McCall, Jocelyn (David) Lowe and Arthur (Kristina) Avedisian as well as her 11 grandchildren.

Judy was born in Burlington, VT on May 1, 1938 to Boyd E Blanchard and Katherine King Blanchard. She grew up in a happy home with her parents and younger sister Penny Fisher. She loved the ocean, books, designing her own clothes and summers spent at the Stone House in Maine with her Aunt Eleanor and Uncle George.

At 17, Judy attended The University of Rochester meeting some of her favorite people through Inter-varsity Christian Fellowship. As Judy pursued her love for God, she met Arman Avedisian, a dashing young bachelor who drove a blue 1960 Dodge Dart Convertible and loved Jesus as well as His great outdoors. They fell in love and married in 1962 becoming lifelong partners and parents.

In 1977, Judy and Arman moved to Ossian, NY to fulfill their dream of raising their children on a farm. The entire family embraced the joys of living in the country. Judy, always ready for an adventure, learned how to can and freeze all of the fruit and vegetables Arman could grow. The farm house was filled with antiques, children, pets, music, maple syrup cooking on the wood stove, and laughter. All were welcomed to a meal and a place to be loved. Judy always had fresh flowers on her beautifully set table and something cooking in her messy kitchen.

After the children grew up and left home, Arman and Judy embraced the men in the local prison system. Their sense of candor mixed with joy and delight in each man, brought hope and light into that dark place and filled their lives with joy as well. Judy also embraced doing farm surveys for the Ag. Department which involved traveling to area farmers' homes as well as working at the local library.

But her favorite pastime was sitting in her gold overstuffed and very loved chair holding a grandchild. She was proud of each and every one, remembering stories from their childhood and reveling in their beauty and intelligence. Marcy and Kurt gave her Emily, 29; Jocelyn and Dave added Austin, 26, Mitchell 24, Alexandra 21 and Madelyn 16; and Arthur and Kristina rounded it out with Evelyn, 26, Olivia 23, Camille 21, Lachlan 16, Alexander 13, and Liam 10! They were her pride and joy and brought her much happiness. Grandma Judy will be sorely missed!
