Matthew James Hessel

Matthew James Hessel, 38, of Bemidji, MN died Monday, October 11, 2021 at his home in Bemidji. Memorial Services will be held at 1:00pm, Thursday, October 21, 2021, at the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji. There will be an hour of visitation before the service at the funeral home. Matt was born in Luverne, MN, he lived in various locations until he moved with his family in 1990 to Bemidji. After he graduated Bemidji High School in 2001, he lived in South Dakota until he returned to Bemidji in 2018 to be closer to family. Matt was an avid car enthusiast. He loved to listen to music and watch YouTube videos. He enjoyed fishing, 4 wheeling, helping with yard work and just being outdoors. Matt had a great sense of humor and loved to tell jokes. Family will always cherish the photo memories of Matt’s silly faces and funny poses. Matt especially loved time with his family and friends. Matt faced many challenges in his life but he always had a smile and a kind heart. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his: Mother, Rebecca (Jeff Eng) Nash of Bemidji, MN, Father, Michael (Irene Schneider) Hessel of Sebring, FL, Siblings, Jessica Hazell of Bagley, MN, Jenny (Victor) Johnson of Shevlin, MN, Lucas Hessel of Bagley, MN, Emily Nash Moravec of Bemidji, MN, Step-Siblings, Jessica (Dan) Lang of Milaca, MN, Kristopher (Jodie) Eng of Pine River, MN, Brandon (Amber) Eng of Brainerd, MN, Kevin (Melissa) Schneider of Oskaloosa, KS, Jason (Kylene) Schneider of North Port, FL, Dear Friend, Alvin Perrin, Many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Maternal Grandparents Carl and Constance Nash, Paternal Grandparents David and Darlene Hessel, Cousin Joshua Mitchell, Uncle Edward Rosier, and Step-niece Ariyah Eng.
