My Life Story
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness,
which the Lord, the righteous judge shall give me .... II Timothy 4:7-8

Minerva Simpson, better known as “Toad” was born on December 12, 1945, to the parents of David and Thelma Chisolm in the Sandfly Community who proceeded her in death.

At a young age, she joined the Isle of Hope Baptist Church in Sandfly. Later she join the Union Skidaway Baptist Church and remained faithful until her health failed. She served diligently as an usher, as was later elected to served as President of the Usher Ministry. This gave her heart great Joy, doing what she was born to do; “Welcoming others in God’s house”, with a pleasant smile.

Her warming spirit and caring personality served her well in her profession as a Nurse for over 30 years. She worked for both Memorial Health University Medical Center and St. Joseph/Candler Health Systems.

On Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at Memorial Health University Medical Center, she entered into to arms of God’s. She was proceeded in death by her parents, brother, James Chisolm, son, Keith Wade, grandson, JaQwan Dixon, granddaughters, Josie Johnson and Amonta Rivera, and niece, Sonye Golden.

She leaves to cherish her memories: a loving and devoted husband, Leroy Simpson, sons, Norris (Bethann) Simmons and James Simmons, daughters, Symenthia (Ronnie) Allen, Angela Johnson, Latasha (Paul) Blige, and Latasha Golden, sister, Pamela Shuman, adopted son, Dwayne Jerryman, adopted sister, Melvina Parker, Goddaughters, Jackie Amey and Johnna Galloway, 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Public viewing will be held 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 22, 2021 in the Chapel of Campbell & Sons Funeral Home, 124 West Park Ave., Savannah, GA. 31401. Graveside services will be held 12 noon, Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Oak Grove Cemetery, 52nd Street & Skidaway Road, Savannah, GA. 31404.
